We want you to be free to share, debate and connect through Hub For Change – but we want to make sure the space is safe, and to do this we need your help.

Please see below for our commenting rules - please read thoroughly! Before commenting, please also consult our Staying Safe Online guidelines.

Commenting Rules

Hub For Change does not permit comments which

1. Are considered likely to disrupt, provoke, attack or offend others:

This included comments which are racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, abusive or otherwise objectionable, or contain swear words or other language likely to offend. You may not publish or post threats of violence against others or promote violence against others.

2. Constitute an unacceptable level of personal information, or could put the user/other site users at risk:

This includes contact details such as phone numbers, postal or email addresses, or sensitive information about individuals, projects or events. Please see our Staying Safe Online and Child Protection Policy for more guidance on this.

3. Constitute persistent harassment

Disagreements are a fact of life, and we encourage debate on our site. However, if we believe you are persistently targeting an individual, or engaging in unnecessarily aggressive debate, we reserve the right to remove your comments and/or block you from the site.

If you feel that you're a victim of this type of behavior, please contact our site admin at youthforchange@plan-uk.org. Likewise, if we consider your comments to be spam, we reserve the right to remove them.

4. Are too far off-topic/irrelevant to a particular discussion thread:

We encourage discussion, but we'd like you to keep threads on topic. If your comment bears no relevance to the discussion at hand, then it may be removed, in order to keep the thread on track.  If there's something you're really keen to talk about, you can start your own thread on or Disqus Discussion page.

This also applies to queries or comments about moderation, which should not be posted as comments but can be directed to youthforchange@plan-uk.org.

5. Describe or encourage activities which could endanger the safety or well-being of others:

We understand that activism has risks, and part of the purpose of our site is to help activists mitigate these risks. Having said this, if we feel that a comment is encouraging behavior which carries an unacceptable level of risk, we may remove it at our discretion.

5. Break the law or condone or encourage unlawful activity:

This includes breach of copyright, defamation and contempt of court.

6. Contain links to other websites considered to be inappropriate:

We don't object to you sharing links to other websites - in fact we actively encourage the sharing of useful information! However, if we believe that a a comment contains a link to a website which infringes on these guidelines, or on our Child Protection Policy, we reserve the right to remove it.

7. Contain Spam, or advertise products or services for financial gain:

We consider ‘spam’ as comments with the same or similar content posted multiple times. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards comments which advertise products or services.

We reserve the right to withhold, block or remove posts which infringe on these rules, and may remove posts for other reasons without warning as and when necessary.

Hub For Change has a duty of care to safeguard all children and vulnerable adults involved in our activities from harm. Any comments deemed to be in breach of our Child Protection Policy will be removed from our website.
