At the first ever CSW Youth Forum, Youth For Change facilitated a session with World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) on violence against women and girls (VAWG).
This was a great opportunity for Youth For Change and WAGGS to facilitate a group which would focus on VAWG. This included a place for young people to explore the themes of different types of violence. These ranged from dating violence to the sexualisation of women in the media, and provided a great learning space for all of the Youth delegates.
Collaborating with one of the biggest networks of women and girls was great because we were actually able to learn some of their curriculum and how they actively teach and deliver sessions using informal education. It was such a privilege to facilitate this meeting with WAGGS and proved worthwhile as the youth declaration included FGM and child & early forced marriage.
All of the participants agreed that tackling Violence against women and girls is crucial to achieving the Sustainable development Goals. In the words of one of the Youth delegates:
I couldn't agree more! Thank you to the CSW Youth Forum team.
