Youths using theatre to tackle violence against Women in Bangladesh

As a part of UN Women's 16 days Activism, Bangladesh's Young Change Makers Coalition (YCMC) organized a cultural program to raise awareness in stopping violence against women.

Youth shared their views using poetry, theater, dance, games and songs. The theater demonstrating the violence against women was one of the main attractions of the cultural program. Besides Old School, Sepahi Band and others performed on stage on the same theme.

Facebook celebrity Hero Alom also strongly gave his message to stop Sexual Harassment and violence against women. His famous dialogue on screen: “no one can hurt a girl in presence of Hero Alom” was highly applauded by the audience. Finally the participants used hand paints and showed solidarity with the message “Let’s unite and end violence against women!”

The whole program was supported by Youth For Change Bangladesh, Plan International Bangladesh and University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). It was organized in the Auditorium of ULAB on 7th December 2016. Around 150 Students from ULAB and members of partner organizations participated in the event.

Stay tuned for more activity from the Young Change Makers Coalition!
